Before you buy
- Walk it yourself. Check how far the trail really is, whether there is a sidewalk to get there, and where people park.
- Ask who owns the land behind you. A greenway or common area behind the lot can be great, but it also means people passing by. Ask about fences and easements.
- Check the plans. Cities extend greenways over time. Planned segments can change what is behind or near a home.
- Neighborhood trails come with an HOA. If the trail belongs to the subdivision, it is usually maintained with HOA dues. Read the covenants.
